The Importance of Supporting Local

With the aftermath of COVID-19 upon us, it’s now more important than ever to support your local businesses.

As a local business with two locations in Maidstone and Tonbridge in Kent, we wanted to show our support for local businesses and provide them with a logo they could use on their website, social media channels, shop signage and printed marketing materials.

We asked our managing director Chris, and our designer Ellie on why this was created.

What were your thoughts behind creating this Support Local logo?

Chris: Supporting local became a hot topic when we re-opened our doors and so we wanted to show our support and advertise our own local business after the pandemic. We couldn’t find a national local-supporting logo that we could stand behind, so we decided to create our own!

What was your inspiration behind the logo design?

Ellie: I wanted to grab attention and to make a strong first impression so the logo stayed memorable in years to come. The shape and style was very important as I wanted to move away from our own business brand so it’s something everyone can use.

How are you displaying the logo?

Chris: We currently have the logo displayed in both of our shop windows, which were created out of cut vinyl and installed by ourselves. Our website shows the logo alongside our social media channels. We want to use the logo as much as we can in our printed marketing materials so we can really push this message forward.

What was your thought process when it came to designing the logo?

Ellie: Blue is a colour for calming and making you feel at home so adding this element to the logo design tied everything together - moving away from any vibrant colours to grab attention. The pin-point was used to create the letter ‘O’ - a symbol that is so well recognised.

Who can use this logo?

Chris: Anyone can use this logo - any business, community event or local sole trader - free of charge! You can download the logo package by clicking the button below.
